Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
VickyPark - Re, your comment on Ajeti.

Its often said never to judge a player on one game.

I am judging him from what I saw at Oxford. Those that were there know we have bought an Ali Dai or whatever his name was at Southampton.

He is not a footballer, and how he even gets on the bench must be a warning sign

Opops what a prat - Add Antonio and Bowen to that first 11 list obviously! Brain fart!

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
In a perfect world if we really wanted to move forward the only "starters" on this season's form would be Fabianski, Ogbonna, Rice and Soucek.

Out of those Fabianski needs quality competition, Ogbonna needs to be the Ogbonna of this year and Rice more than likely will be off so we really would need to start from scratch!

We have one or two decent back up shouts and I'd certainly get Noble to take his coaching badges if he already hasn't but unless Wislhire miraculously becomes injury free, Lanzini and Anderson show what they are really capable of and Haller starts banging in the goals it really is a major rebuild that sadly won't happen with GSB or if they did we would end up with old journeymen and the likes of Lingard and Jones!

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
NJ that is my worry too

Assuming Snoddy is injuree but comes back ok i wouldnt get rid of him. There have been times when he has looked like the only player that gives a shit aside from Rice.

Moyes needs s player like that to at least fall back.on. For that alone he is worth at least 3 Andersons

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
I think the magic money tree is going to be the sale of Rice!
I wouldn't trust GBS to miximise his value, you just look at the relative peanuts we got for Parker and Arnie.

So I’d look at moving

Ajeti - shit
Hugill - out of his depth
Anderson - half hearted coward
Lanzini - shell of himself
Yarmolenko - decent but injury prone/old
Wilshere - needs no explanation

What magic money tree do you think is going to take Anderson, Lanzini, Yarmolenko & Wilshire and pay them anything close to what we do?

Use your fucking brain for once.

VickyPkVillageIdiot 1:28 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Hugill has scored 15 goals this season for QPR. Has he earned the opportunity to be a backup for next season?

As for Ajeti, he hasn’t even started a PL game, has he? Very hard to make an impact in 5 minute cameos. Maybe loan him out to the Championship for 6 months?

Darlo Debs 1:26 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Is Snodgrass injured?

El Scorchio 1:24 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Assuming Soucek signs, two full backs, an attacking central midfielder, another player in the ilk of Bowen, and a decent striker to pair/rotate with Haller.

Lots of players I’d consider getting rid of but you can’t just jettison 8-9 all at once and some like Fredericks can stay as cover- which some won’t accept. So I’d look at moving

Ajeti - shit
Hugill - out of his depth
Anderson - half hearted coward
Lanzini - shell of himself
Yarmolenko - decent but injury prone/old
Wilshere - needs no explanation

as a priority. None have a long term future here. Shame with Lanzini but he looks finished.

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Mitrovic can't hack it in the premier League looks ok in the championship because that's his level.
I'd seriously look at raiding some of the Brentford players if they don't come up.Some excellent players there.

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
I would keep Antonio (extend his contract) and Haller but get rid of Ajeti to bring in a 3rd up and coming striker from the Championship etc.

Our money needs to go mostly on two new full backs relegating Cresswell and Freds to the squad as second choice.

We need another central defender to push Diop and Ogbonna in starting, Balbuena can stay as 4th choice.

Who to keep as back up to Bowen on the right wing? Snodgrass or Yarmy? both have strength and weaknesses, i would leave that to the manager, keep one sell the other.

Now what to do with Wilshere, Lanzini, Fornals and Anderson? all on longer contracts

Anderson seems to be the best value to sell and probably least fitting in Moyes' plans.

I would keep Lanzini and Fornals for squad rotation and offload Jack and Anderson.

Noble stays for squad rotation but does not start:

Fabianski
New RB Diop Ogbonna New LB
Rice Soucek
Bowen Barkley or equivalent Diangala
Antonio/Haller

Squad

Randolph
Freds
Balbuena
New CB
Creswell
Johnson
Noble
Lanzini
Fornals
Yarmy or Snod
New Striker
Silva?

OUT:

Masuaku
Wilshere
Anderson
Yarmy or Snod
Ajeti

Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
I think Todd Cantwell of Norwich would be a very good signing. Done well in a poor Norwich side. Young and English.

Time to move Lanzini on and either yarmalenko or Anderson.

dealcanvey 11:22 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Think Mitrovic would be a good fit.

Crazy saying this after Antonio scored 4 yesterday but I still think he is better for us as a right winger.

South Woodhammer 11:18 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Agreed Sven , Ollie Watkins is also a good shout .... nothing to split him and Mitrovic in terms of stats , they’re both 24 goals so far this season and Mitrovic is only a year older at 25. Respective fees would be determined by whether Fulham or Brentford get promoted , but Watkins obviously more pacy , Mitrovic more physical and better in the air , either one would be an improvement on our record signing Haller. But knowing our owners we’ll end up with Giroud on a free with a two year £100k pw contract.

Justin P 11:13 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
I would want to see Diangana back with the team, given a decent pre-season and let loose of the left flank with Bowen patrolling the right.

We need an attacking central midfielder in the ilk of a Ross Barclay type player to work the hole where Noble was yesterday with linking Soucek and Rice with Antonio/Haller.

Sven Roeder 11:00 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
If Brentford aren’t coming up (they are I think) Id prefer Ollie Watkins to Mitrovic
English & much more mobile. Looks like he can play on the ground but is big enough to lead the line.
As another mobile centre forward I’d take a look at Karlan Grant at Huddersfield
Has scored 18 goals in a very shit Huddersfield team & a few the Premier league season incl against us in the game we won 4-3

BigLump 10:52 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
From the coverage Ive seen, I'm not sure he is exactly a speed merchant but he brings others into the game well, and can finish.

He isnt reliant on others to tee it up for him and seems to have less of a mardy gallic shrug.....

Perfect - Nope
In our price range and what we need right now - Possibly

Vexed 10:46 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Mitrovic would fit into the Moyes hoofball regime for sure.

He's slow as fuck though.

BigLump 10:43 Sun Jul 12

I'm also a fan of Mitrovic. Not sure of his age but he seems to have a bit of mileage left on the clock.

What I want to see are players like Antonio.

That’s it.

South Woodhammer 12:24 Sun Jul 12
Re: What changes to the squad would you make if we stay up?
Out...Ajeti , Anderson, Lanzini , Cresswell , Masuaku .... for whatever we can get.. also out if we can anywhere near recover our investments ...Haller and Fornals, both potentially not bad players but we massively overpaid for both thanks to the fraud Pellegrini.

In...two new fullbacks , a box to box goal scoring midfielder ( Shelvey would be ideal in our realistic price bracket ) , at least one forward ( Josh King from Bournemouth perhaps, right age maybe right money ? ) and if Haller goes I’d like to replace with Mitrovic from Fulham , who we should have gone after in the first place , big and nasty and gets in where it hurts. Our biggest battle will be keeping Declan away from Chelsea and if he wants the move sadly it’s going to happen. In which case we need to be getting two out of three in return from Barkley , Loftus Cheek and Batshuyai... But massive rebuild required in any event if we’re to avoid starting another relegation battle in September.
